Apparently one of the Pitchforkmedia.com writers was at the same awful "Unicorns" or "Th' Corn Gangg" show I went to a few weeks ago (and ranted about) but has a completely opposing viewpoint about the whole fiasco. Reading makes you smart, fool.
Type Slowly
Yikes. I got up way too early again this morning by my usual standards. 6 am. I got into work at 8:15 am and am not the slightest bit tired. Jeesh. Late onset jet-lag? I think so.
Yes, the title of this post is a Pavement song. For some bizarre reason, my iTunes shuffle mode keeps playing their songs this morning.
Caitlin and my dad are currently driving due west somewhere in the middle of our fair country in a fully packed blue Honda Civic. She's finally moving out to Arizona to start the first chapter of her life after 6 years pharmacy school. Yay!

Man Man are blowin' up the scene, yo
I just talked to "fore-throat", Honus Honus from your fav new band, Man Man. They got a sweet nod on RollingStone.com for being the "Best Stage Show" at SXSW this year. Awesome! Please check them out if they roll through your neck of the woods. I'm so proud of your moustache! It's so, so... big!

Cool commercial alert!
Check this out. Adidas teased me once with the Steve Zissou shoes from the movie and now this. Spike Jonze directs (as if he were Michel Gondry) while his new girlfriend, Karen O. (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) sings the track. I have no idea what the shoes are supposed to be but I want to buy them simply based on the lyrical beauty of this commerical. Way to go, advertising!

Do you like photos of other people's vacations?
Here's some more of Rome and Venice.
Waking up this morning was much easier than I anticipated and I've been pretty with it all day. Maybe I conquered jet-lag by sleeping on the plane? I don't know.
The comics will be back up and running later this week as I sink back into the grind. Yay, grind. Whatever.
Have any of you been watching this amazing and completely random show on MTV2 called "Wonder Showzen"?? Sweet sweet jeebus!
Who are these hot bitches?

I'm back, bitches!
So here's some pictures from my sister's camera of the rest of the trip. Yo, respec!
It's like 12:30am Sunday night and I am not tired. Work sure is going to be fun tomorrow.

Off to Venice...
All right, so strike my last statement. We are, in fact, going to Venice tomorrow morning via train and returning to Rome Friday evening. Sweet!
How do you say that in Italian?
So I've been picking up more and more of the language over here thanks to my awesome sister who's been studying it herself. Everything is still great and the weather couldn't be more perfect. As you could imagine, the food is incredible too.
Yesterday we tried to book a rental car to drive north to Florence or even Venice but ALL of the cars are gone. I'm not suprised though. It is Easter week, after all. The next option is the train but we have to see if there are tickets available. Though I'd like to see Venice and other cities here, I'm perfectly happy continuing my stint in Roma and seeing more of the museums, etc... I'm pretty sure I'll be back to Europe within the next few years so I'm not too worried.
I wish I could post more pictures but my site for doing so is being retarded. When I return, I'll figure it out.

Butterflies
...in my stomach. I leave early tomorrow morning and can't wait! This is a pretty pointless post.
Except that I just got the new Stars album and it's really good.

Now, moving on...
There will be a new comic up later this evening. I promise.
I've been mentally preparing for the trip. 3 more days until I leave.
Erin's going to Milan tomorrow for the FC Porto Champions League game against Inter. Sweet! She got us all our tickets for the AS Roma/ AC Milan game too. Yay!
I totally agree with Pieter on this one. More of our articulate friends should have their own blog, if not just for 2 of your friends to read it regularly. I'm looking at you, Eric. It's free and easy as pie. Or cake. Or whatever else the kids like these days. Wow, I just realized the "cake" thing was an inadvertent reference to a fake drug from "The Brass Eye". I love that show.

One more week...
...until Rome.
Well, the new episode of South Park started the season off with quite a BANG. Please catch it if you happened to miss it. Let's just say they used some nice stock footage in all the right places. As Mr. Slave would say, Jesus Christ!

Stumbling Heroes
Man U was taken by AC Milan in the Champions League 2nd leg 0-1. Oh yeah, and the slimy bastards of Chelsea took Barcelona 4-2. Boo! Boo, I say!
This pretty much sums it up...
Now THIS is dedication!
I'm gonna cheer extra loud for AS Roma at their match against AC Milan when I'm there on the 20th of March. I might have to take my Roma scarf off the wall and bring it with me to Italy just for the occasion.

Derka derka...
Oops. No comic tonight. I started working my lazy ass out again and boy am I tired.
Has anyone heard about an official DVD release date for Team America: World Police?
Oh yeah, there's a new episode of South Park tomorrow! Mr. Garrison might get a sex change! What of Mr. Slave? For the love of god, what of Mr. Slave?????!!

Time to make the donuts, er I mean, cartoons.
Haha, the Smith's "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" just popped on my iTunes here at work. How terribly fitting. Hahaha. Oh Morrissey!
There's a good chance that I'll get my shit together tonight and put another comic up. So please, check back.

Photo Porto
Goddamn, this photo is so awesome it makes me nauseous. So jealous of Erin's situation. So jealous.
I can't wait to go to Rome. 10 days and counting. Erin's going to buy us tickets to see AC Milan face off with AS Rome right down the street from her apartment. Sounds like my kind of vacation. Sweet!!
I gotta pose the question- should one be satified with what they're doing in life and not happy at all with their surroundings OR should one merely settle for what they can do in a place that makes them completely happy?? I just don't know how long I can take LA without going crazy. Grass is greener, sure but I never wanted to come here to begin with. It was totally out of necessity to find a job. Ugh. I'll stop my bitching. I hate being in the position where I don't have the ability to solve my problem in a clean manner.

The world at 132 mph...
Sorry about the lack of a comic this weekend. I've been totally addicted to Gran Turismo 4 since I discovered "arcade mode". I can drive just about anything I want including the new GTI MkV. Enough said.
And yes, the game really looks this good.

Not new but new to me
In the past five years or so, a few noteworthy bands have slipped by me and escaped into the arms of other people's adoration. What can I say, I can't always stay in the loop! Before Eric left, I had the opportunity to pillage his cd collection and acquaint myself with some of the music he and so many others always talk about. Two things of the many that stand out like rays of divine light are Matt Pond PA and The Delgados. I highly suggest taking them for a spin on Amazon. These are huge.

Texas Never Whispers
I told you guys I would employ the Pavement titling thing... This came from my absolute favorite EP called Watery, Domestic. Get this: On the evening of December 23rd, 2000 I was walking to the south Philly free parking lot at 7th and Christian to load up my '93 Honda Civic for the trip back to Pittsburgh for the holidays. It was cold as fuck and lightly snowing.
As I approached my car, I noticed that the passenger window was smashed in. Yikes. I opened up my car to find that nothing was really taken and things were merely strewn about. There was just glass and snow everywhere. Whew. Ok, I could have dealt with that. Until I started the car and tried to back out of my parking spot. I heard the transmission click into reverse, but my wee car did not move.
Meanwhile, Pavement was blaring from my crappy factory tape deck. The song (and perhaps one of the top 5 of all time for me) was "Frontwards" and came from the aforementioned EP. It's just funny becuase in this song, Stephen Malkmus jokes about "stolen rims, are they alloy of chrome?".
I put my car back into park, got out and walked to the front passenger side to find that my rim was in fact, stolen. The hack thief did it had popped my trunk once inside my car, taken the spare jack and proceeded to take the front wheel. Oh yeah, he made off with the spare and the jack too, dropping my poor car onto the icy pavement. Haha, pavement. My parents ended up coming out to Philadelphia the following morning to switch out the front wheels so I could make it home. Luckily, there was not pertinent axle damage from the drop.
That's my holiday/Watery, Domestic/stolen wheel story.
14 days until I get jet-set. I ordered me up a nice new carry-on because checking bags on a connecting flight scares me to death. Erin had some problems with that stuff too. I'd rather avoid it and just have everything with me.
I'm gonna miss you, Eric.
